The Liber Institute guides school leaders towards sustainable and transformational change by building leaders across the school community. No matter where the school leader needs to pivot, there will be a team ready to lead.
Why We Exist
-
Education decisions are often made without the input of Indigenous communities.
-
Mainstream curricula does not affirm Indigenous history and culture.
-
Teachers and school leaders are ill-prepared to meet students’ unique learning needs.
We aim to increase on-time High-School graduation and college enrollment rates in Indigenous communities, with an emphasis on the 46,000+ Indigenous learners served in Bureau of Indian Education-funded schools.
Is it any surprise that Indigenous students struggle with some of the worst academic outcomes of any demographic group?

We do not work in isolation. We work in, and alongside the communities we serve.
The Liber Institute’s Cangleska, or Circle, builds the leadership capacity of teachers and principals to partner with learners and families in redesigning the cultural and instructional practices of schools.
